About 84th BCPM
Dear Balneology Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that the 84th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Balneology, Climatology and Physical Medicine (BCPM), the Scientific Meeting of Balneology, Medical Hydrology and Climatology, will take place in Okayama Japan, 18-19 May 2019.
Japan has nearly 30,000 hot-spring sources and nearly 3,000 hot-spring areas throughout its many islands. It is the country most abundant in hot-spring sources in the world. Scientific research led to the establishment of BCPM in Japan in 1935.
Japan has entered into a super-aged society that does not exist in the world now. The theme of this academic meeting is “Medical balneology in the super-aged society “. The balneology is applied in a wide range such as health promotion, welfare (nursing care), disease prevention, and disease treatment in the medical field. It is also considered to be useful as an intervention for improvement of frailty.
I am looking forward to the meeting which will reflect the importance of the scientific research on balneology, climatology and physical medicine for the elderly medical care. The main topics of this meeting will be comprehensively presented as up-to-date lectures by the invited prominent speakers.
Okayama prefecture is located in the south of Chugoku region, facing the Seto Inland Sea. Okayama has a mild climate in comparison to most of Japan. Okayama is called “the Sunny Country” because of its low rainfall. Okayama city is the site of Koraku-en, known as one of the three best traditional gardens in Japan. May is an especially beautiful time of the year and we are delighted to be holding the Congress in Okayama in May.
In Okayama Prefecture, various hot springs are scattered here and there, including “Mimasaka Santo” (three hot springs of Mimasaka region) proud of the long history consisting of “Yunogo Onsen”, “Yubara Onsen”, “Okutsu Onsen” located in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture.
Please attend the joint meeting of the 84th BCPM, and we will be happy meeting you in May 2019 in Okayama.
Travel expenses and accommodation expenses will be borne by you. However, the participation fee is free, and the reception fee is 8,000 yen.
